New LONGLINER presentations

Written by Steve Lumsden — December 29, 2012

Michael Tracey:

Can you please email me a copy of rigging the longliner? I purchased one at the Puyallup sportsman show from you. I have lost the instructions and want to hook it up correctly but don’t know how?

Thank you,

Spoke to you at Puyallup show. Did you come out with an Anchovy head yet? Interested in that

I just added your semi barbless hooks into my line up purchased from all sports. But I wanted to share to my friends the single hooks but can’t find them here. I did share the treble hooks. I wanted to show them that they are compliable to ODFW barbless rules

For interested shoppers-this outfit is first class and treats customers like they are the most important thing going. Steve Lumsden is in charge of this company and I highly recommend you review their items. Myself and several friends have great success with the Dick’s Sure Spin Herring Helmets! Easy to use and spin perfectly and adjustable depending on your desired speed-slow, medium and fast. High recommend you try these. They are working great on the Umpqua, Coos and Rogue Rivers here in Oregon.
Great company Steve!!! Keep up the good work!! Rick Kearney

Steve Kaufman:

I have resisted using plug cut a lot of the times over the years because I didn’t like how often I had to re-bait. I recently used Dick’s Sure Spin Herring Helmets for the first time and I am a believer. i can’t belive how long a bait will last. I just pulled them up every 10-15 minutes for a check and occasional addition of scent I fished a couple mornings at the bar in Nehalem bay and we hooked seven Chinook with three rods. All seven fish were hooked on my rod with herring helmet. I even had one fish with slip the hook before we got it to the boat and pulled the hooks from the herring and slid it up the line. I re-adjusted my bobber stop, put the hooks back through the undamaged side of the bait and caught another fish within about 15 minutes. I will definitely continue to use them and will probably fish plug cut more often. I would recommend anyone who fishes plug cut to give these a try. I don’t believe you’ll be sorry.

Mitch Huckaby:

To all current and future customers, I would just like to say this company is first class. I made a recent order and an item was left out when my shipmment arrived, and a quick call to Steve and all was taken care of with no questions asked. This is how buinesses used to be operated and to deal with true customer service in today’s world is a true find. Steve also threw in a few samples in my second shipment. First class business from a first class guy. Thanks again, Steve. You have my business and I am telling everyone what a great company Angler Innovations is to do buiness with.

Jean Paul Carufo:

Good Afternoon,
I just wanted to follow up our great conversation at the show with a
‘couple’ of pictures of fish we have taken ALL ON DICK’S SURE SPIN heads
(attached to this email), either Herring or Anchovies. Like I mentioned
when we spoke, almost never in my 60 years of angling have I ever
experienced a product that has so positively impacted our fishing
experience and success rate as has the Dick’s Sure Spin heads.
Both my wife and I have fished plug cuts for years and were ‘satisfyingly’
successful, but always had to deal with ‘blowouts’ when baits hit the
bottom and fresh and poor quality baits that no matter what we did, didn’t
fish or last well. Along comes the Dick’s Sure Spin and all those issues
disappear. Not only do you not have to worry about needing a ‘perfect’ cut
and hook placement, but any bait works perfectly.
We love the way the fish respond to the fresh bait, both Anchovies and
Herring, at Buoy 10 and with the Sure Spin it’s 15 seconds and we are back
fishing a perfectly presented bait. The fish have noticed too. Our bite
numbers have increased significantly with both Chinook and Coho, Falls and
I also love talking to the ‘naysayers’ that say that your product is too
difficult to use. I admit that there is a slight learning curve to use
them, but there isn’t with plug cuts as well? Really good ‘plug cutters’
have been experimenting for years or decades and no matter how good they
are, can only do well with ‘perfectly prepared’ baits. Again, not so with
a Sure Spin. So what, I need to tie a bobber stop knot above the hooks
before I slide on the head. I tie all my leaders at home before I fish
anyway. So, no big deal. And after watching a demonstration you guys do at
the show or a you tube video on line, anyone should and would be ready to
go. Our only add from experience with use, as I mentioned yesterday, is
that we have gone to 30 to 40 pound flouro leader for it’s stiffness and
clarity with #1 treble tied with a snell knot in the side of Anchovies
with a 4/0 or 5/0 ‘hang back’ and a #1/0 treble in the side of Herring
again with a 4/0 or 5/0 ‘hang back’. We’ve always used Owner’s in the
past, but your suggestion of trying the ‘Grabber Hooks’ you showed me is
interesting. The ridges definitely would help keep the hook in place.
Anyway, I’ve taken too much of you time already. I just wanted to thank
you for creating such a FANTASTIC product and send along some ‘proof’. We
recommend your product to everyone we can and have provided tied leaders
to literally dozens of fellow fisherman at Buoy 10, 42nd Street on the
Columbia and Albernie Inlet/Barkley Sound on Vancouver Island. Everyone
should be using them. With all the saved money on bait and the knowledge
that every one of those perfectly presented baits is a potential fish
makes purchase and use a ‘no brainer’. They basically pay for themselves
in savings and heartache.
I’d also be glad to talk to anyone that needs a personal recommendation, I
feel that good about your product. Send’em my way and I will convince
them. I look forward to seeing the ‘cutter’ in the near future.
Have a Great Day!
Jean Paul Carufo
