Maruto Grabber Hooks®

Grabber Hooks are Maruto barbless hooks made with the patented ridged design by Dohitomi & Co., Ltd. of Japan.  As far as barbless, these hooks grab!  The ridges are an accepted barbless design that helps hold a hooked fish better.  We call them the "better barbless."  Hook design has much to do with holding fish without an actual barb.  So what makes Maruto Barbless Grabber Hooks so much better?

  • Sharp.  Maruto is know for sharpness and competes well with all its competitors
  • Spade points: adds resistance to the hook leaving the puncture site
  • Cutting points help penetration
  • Ridged design: creates a tendency for the hook to remain in place while under pressure
  • Sickle style: most octopus hooks have shallow penetration based upon a hook designed for a barb.  Remove the barb and the shallow penetration reduced effectiveness.
  • forged wire: forging stacks the metallic molecules making it stronger.
  • Hang nail point: helps hold fish

Maruto barbless (Grabber Hooks) are fully legal the barbless fisheries of Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, and California, including the National Park Service.  For downloadable copies of acceptance letters please go to Acceptance Letters.
